Two Executives Exit Twitter Due To Elon’s Changing Rules

In a shocking turn of events this week alone, Twitter has lost two executives who were working to ensure the safety and trust of the platform.

Given that Twitter has made repeated claims against abuse and hate speech and, by extension, negative brand exposure risk, things should be getting better for the app.

However, there have been signs that not everything is fine and dandy over at Twitter ever since Elon Musk took over.

Both the executives who exited the company have made sure to be vocal supporters of the free speech reformation brought about by Elon.

But the two had had enough and decided to depart when the CEO overruled the decision of the team to restrict the promotion of a documentary related to gender transition.

The executives did not want to play a role in promoting the gender ideology movement that is swiftly sweeping through the world.

Previously, a number of reports had revealed that Twitter was going to play host to an exclusive premiere of this particular documentary, which is called What Is A Woman.

This premiere would have also come with marketing and promotions from the micro-blogging site.

But after the content of the documentary had been viewed by the safety and trust, Twitter backed out from hosting the premiere, citing hate speech concerns.

The team thought that since the documentary talks about misgendering, the content could be inappropriate and offensive for some audiences.

On the other hand, Elon has been vocal about being a critic of gender transition surgery for youngsters and gender affirmation.

Soon after the micro-blogging website distanced itself from the documentary, the CEO was directly questioned about backing down from the deal.

Shortly after, Elon stepped in and overruled the decision made by the team. Moreover, he also announced that the rules would be made laxer related to such topics.

In addition, he went on to retweet the documentary, which was promoted to his 141 million followers. For maximum exposure, he also pinned it right at the top of his Twitter profile.

Due to this back and forth, a significant risk was caused within the brand safety team of Twitter.

As a result, the head of trust and safety at the micro-blogging website, Ella Irwin and the chief of brand safety, AJ Brown, did not waste time in exiting the company.

The head of trust and safety had taken on the role of a spokesperson whenever Twitter 2.0 was criticized due to the changes being made by Elon.

She had been taking care of all the concern and angst that had risen amongst the ad partners of the social media platform.

As a result, she was tasked with reassuring several brands and maintaining the trust of advertisers.

However, Irwin was dealing with an uphill battle, especially since the ad revenue of the company has declined by no less than 50%, ever since Elon took over.

It is no secret that the brand safety team of the platform is dealing with significant matters already, and the two key departures did not make things any better.
