Twitter Introduces New Controls And Video Updates

Twitter has just added a couple of new controls for playback speed for the videos that are present within the app.

This is a big step in the micro-blogging website’s video development roadmap, which is all set to receive even more attention, especially with the new CEO coming in, Linda Yaccarino.

Previously, Twitter had added the option of longer video uploads for the app’s Blue subscribers. These particular users also had access to advanced playback quality options.

But now, they will also have access to additional playback speed controls, which will give them more control over managing their video experience in the app.

For people looking to consume clips and discussion videos at a faster speed, they can use the playback speed option with ease.

On the other hand, slower-speed playback will fare well with sports content. This is another element that the micro-blogging website is trying to hone in on by releasing these new video options.

The Chief of Twitter, Elon Musk, has further flagged a bunch of other video features that he wants to see in the near future.

These are likely to be released in the next couple of weeks and could include automated transcripts of different video content and options to download videos.

Elon Musk has further said that he wants to add a separate video tab on the profiles of users, along with playback support in picture-in-picture form.

The last feature is meant to allow users to continue watching the videos they played, without being interrupted by their own scrolling.

Nobody knows when exactly these features may be released, however, Musk has made it clear that he hoped to see them at this stage. Thud, they are likely to be out any time soon.

On the other hand, Twitter is quickly pushing updates and is the fastest one to be doing so at this time.

Given that the micro-blogging website has decided that video will be its next primary focus element, updates are likely to start before the month is out.

As reported the last week, the current head of NBCUniversal’s advertising, Linda Yaccarino will be replacing Musk as the new CEO of the company.

Since video is her main area of expertise, it is likely that she will be cashing in on the relationships she has built with various ad partners over the year.

Moreover, her connections could also play a major role in helping the app establish its own streaming service supported by ads, the same as Peacock.

In previous announcements, Musk has consistently made it clear that his vision for the micro-blogging website is not as simply a social media platform.

Rather, in his mind, Twitter is in competition with numerous traditional news outlets, as the platform aims to become the quickest and most accurate source of all news and information across the globe.

In addition, Musk has also expressed in the past that he wants to become a potential competitor for YouTube too. Thus, it makes sense to think that video will now be a big area for the app’s development.
